About the Role:
The Accounts Receivable (A/R) Representative plays a critical role in managing the financial health of healthcare organizations by ensuring timely and accurate collection of payments. This position involves monitoring patient accounts, insurance claims, and third-party payments to maintain optimal cash flow and reduce outstanding balances. The A/R Rep collaborates closely with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and answer inquiries. By maintaining detailed records and generating reports, this role supports compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. Ultimately, the A/R Representative contributes to the financial stability and operational efficiency of the healthcare provider by effectively managing receivables.
Location: Sarasota (office based role)
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in accounts receivable or billing within the healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with medical billing codes, insurance claim processes, and healthcare payment systems.
- Strong proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., Certified Professional Biller or Certified Coding Specialist) preferred.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare management software.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and compliance standards related to billing.
- Ability to analyze financial data and generate detailed reports to support decision-making.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Review and process patient accounts and insurance claims to ensure accurate billing and timely payment.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams to resolve billing issues and discrepancies.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue payments to minimize outstanding balances.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all transactions and communications related to accounts receivable.
- Prepare and generate regular reports on account status, payment trends, and collection activities for management review.
