We are seeking an experienced Operations Finance Manager to join our team. This individual will be a key partner to both Finance and Operations, focusing on costing and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and inventory processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in inventory costing, variance analysis, process improvement, and the ability to collaborate across departments.
This role is essential in building a strong function for product costing, variance analysis, and financial process improvements.
What You’ll Do
Financial Costing & Operations Analysis
- Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) and standards evaluation based on policies and production processes.
- Partner with Operations to manage BOMs and product scrap factors.
- Oversee month-end close processes to ensure inventory cost accuracy.
- Provide insights into purchase price variances and trends.
- Develop and manage daily soft close processes for visibility into operations and conversion costs.
- Analyze inventory losses and identify root causes.
- Collaborate with Operations to align financial and operational objectives.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual Operations expense budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Develop and manage raw material expense budgeting.
- Maintain and support ERP system data while expanding system capabilities.
Inventory Processes & Procedures
- Document internal controls, policies, and procedures for inventory.
- Monitor compliance with inventory policies and procedures.
- Build knowledge of Microsoft D365, MES, and CMMS frameworks.
Management & Leadership
- Develop and mentor Finance team members to foster professional growth.
- Create a positive and engaging team culture.
- Support annual team goals and track progress.
Ad-hoc Analysis
- Deliver reporting and analysis for inventory and cost of goods sold.
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to provide insights for decision-making.
What Success Looks Like
- Become a subject matter expert in inventory/costing with deep understanding of the manufacturing process.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance, Operations, and Engineering.
- Provide proactive insights into monthly financial results.
- Manage inventory responsibilities independently and accurately.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in financial processes.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of cost accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of inventory costing and manufacturing processes.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VBA/macros a plus).
- Power BI and Power Automate experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment: mix of remote, office, and occasional plant visits.
- Minimal travel required for physical inventory, planning, and relationship building.
