Senior Tooling Engineer – Direct Hire

IntePros is partnering with a growing medical device manufacturer to hire a Senior Tooling Engineer with strong expertise in injection mold tooling, design, and performance optimization. This is a hands-on engineering role supporting tooling development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in a regulated, high-precision manufacturing environment.
Position Overview
The Senior Tooling Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and ongoing performance of injection molds and tooling systems. This role works closely with Process Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure tooling supports stable, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead tooling design, development, and qualification for new and existing products
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors on mold builds, modifications, and repairs
- Troubleshoot tooling-related issues impacting quality, scrap, and production efficiency
- Support tool validation activities and ensure readiness for process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
- Optimize mold performance for cycle time, durability, and consistency
- Review and interpret tooling drawings, designs, and specifications
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling reliability and performance
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and process transfers from a tooling perspective
- Ensure compliance with GMP, quality systems, and engineering standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- 5–10 years of tooling engineering experience, preferably in injection molding
- Strong knowledge of injection mold design, materials, and tool construction
- Experience working with tooling vendors and managing mold builds/modifications
- Ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement sustainable solutions
- Experience reading and interpreting tooling and mechanical drawings
Preferred Experience
- Medical device or other regulated manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
- Exposure to high-volume, multi-cavity molds
- Lean / continuous improvement experience
