Job Description:
- We are seeking experienced Telecommunications and Data Technician Trainers with a strong background in fiber pulling, structured cabling, and low-voltage telecommunications work.
- This role is designed for individuals who have real-world field experience but will be responsible for training students or technicians in a classroom and lab setting, rather than performing day-to-day field installation work.
- The ideal candidate has hands-on experience pulling fiber optic and data cabling and is able to clearly explain industry concepts, demonstrate best practices, and help learners build the foundational skills needed for telecommunications and data technician roles.

- This position is ideal for experienced telecommunications or data technicians who are ready to move into a training and instructional role.
- Candidates should be able to bring real-world field knowledge into the classroom and help prepare learners for success in fiber optic, data cabling, and telecommunications technician careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom and hands-on lab instruction related to telecommunications, fiber optic cabling, structured cabling, and low-voltage systems.
- Train students or technicians on fiber pulling techniques, cable handling, pathway planning, labeling, organization, and job site safety.
- Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, cable pulling methods, ladders, lifts, racks, patch panels, cable trays, and telecom room layouts.
- Teach basic concepts related to fiber optic cable, copper cabling, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coax, and other low-voltage infrastructure.
- Explain how to read and interpret basic blueprints, floor plans, work orders, cable schedules, and installation instructions.
- Provide instruction on proper cable routing, dressing, bundling, labeling, and documentation practices.
- Support hands-on learning activities, simulations, demonstrations, and skills assessments in a classroom or lab environment.
- Evaluate learner progress, provide feedback, and assist students in developing job-ready technical skills.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional training environment.
- Collaborate with program managers, curriculum teams, and other instructors to improve training materials and ensure instruction reflects real-world industry expectations.
Qualifications:
- Prior field experience as a Telecommunications Technician, Data Technician, Fiber Technician, Low Voltage Technician, Cable Technician, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with fiber pulling is required from past work experience
- Experience with some, all or most including structured cabling, data cabling, low-voltage systems, telecom rooms, racks, patch panels, cable trays, and labeling standards.
- Strong ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, patient, and beginner-friendly way.
- Comfortable leading classroom instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on training exercises.
- Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and support learners with varying levels of technical experience.
- Familiarity with job site safety practices and proper tool/equipment usage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous training, teaching, mentoring, lead technician, or supervisory experience.
- Experience developing or supporting technical training curriculum.
- Knowledge of fiber termination, splicing, testing, OTDR, and troubleshooting is a plus.
- Experience in data centers, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, warehouses, or large construction environments.
- BICSI, OSHA 10/30, fiber optic, low-voltage, or lift certifications preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate cable pulling techniques, tool usage, ladder safety, and equipment handling in a classroom or lab setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during instruction and demonstrations.
- Ability to lift and move training materials, cable, tools, and equipment as needed
