Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Controls Director to lead project controls strategy and execution for a large-scale API manufacturing capital project. This role is focused on performance management, cost and schedule control, and executive-level reporting within a complex, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in earned value management, Primavera P6, and capital project controls, along with strong leadership and stakeholder communication skills. Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred, with oil & gas backgrounds also considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee project controls execution for large-scale capital projects within a manufacturing environment
- Provide data-driven insights to senior leadership, including plan vs. actual performance, trends, and forecasts
- Establish clear visibility into cost, schedule, and performance metrics
- Drive earned value management (EVM) and integrated performance tracking
- Ensure alignment across cost, schedule, and forecasting functions
- Collaborate closely with Cost Controllers, Project Controls teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Own and manage project risk identification, analysis, and mitigation strategies
- Deliver clear and confident executive-level communication and reporting
- Support and enforce performance accountability across project teams
- Lead and foster a high-performing project controls environment
- Maintain strong on-site engagement with project teams and leadership
Required Qualifications
- 12 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or capital project management
- Proven experience on large, complex capital or mega projects (pharma or oil & gas preferred)
- Strong expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance tracking
- Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 (mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience in construction-phase project controls or CAPEX project environments
- Strong understanding of cost control, scheduling, and forecasting integration
- Ability to present project performance insights to executive stakeholders
- Proven leadership skills with a high level of ownership and accountability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing projects (API preferred)
- Familiarity with GMP-regulated environments
- Experience leading large cross-functional project controls teams
