Position Overview:
A growing pharmaceutical manufacturing site is seeking a hands-on Contract Automation Engineer to support commissioning, equipment integration, and plant automation activities during a major facility expansion. This role will work closely with the site Automation Lead and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure reliable startup, integration, and ongoing automation support for manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC systems
- Support equipment commissioning, startup, and integration activities
- Interface new and existing equipment with the site automation network and AVEVA PI historian
- Provide day-to-day automation support for manufacturing operations
- Ensure equipment is properly networked and integrated during startup and qualification
- Support plant systems including automation, equipment controls, and environmental monitoring systems
- Collaborate with manufacturing, CQV/validation, process engineering, packaging engineering, quality, and maintenance teams
- Assist with resolving automation issues in a regulated manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of hands-on industrial automation experience in a plant or manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic
- Experience with equipment controls, plant networks, and systems integration
- Proven ability to troubleshoot automation issues in a production environment
- Associate degree in a technical or engineering-related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with change control and change management processes
- Experience with plant historians (AVEVA PI or similar systems)
