Role: Associate Scientist II

Location: St. Paul, MN - 55117

Duration: 12 Months

The Scientist will support materials science activities for medical device projects, with a focus on polymer materials characterization. This role requires hands-on laboratory experience using analytical techniques such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, and SEM in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform polymer materials characterization using DSC, TGA, FTIR, and related techniques
• Conduct hands-on laboratory testing and analysis to support project teams
• Partner with scientists and cross-functional teams to develop test plans
• Analyze data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports
• Document experimental work in an electronic notebook system in compliance with GMP requirements
• Maintain strong attention to detail while managing multiple priorities

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field
• 1–3 years of experience in materials or polymer characterization
• Hands-on experience operating analytical instrumentation
• Experience documenting laboratory work in electronic or paper notebooks under GMP guidelines
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities

Preferred

• Experience with polymer structure–property relationships
• Familiarity with Trios, OMNIC, and LabVantage ELN systems

Working Conditions

• Laboratory-based role requiring standing and/or sitting
• Use of appropriate PPE while working with laboratory chemicals and biological materials
