Summary
The Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Group in the Oncogenesis TRC is seeking a Senior Research Associate with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, and molecular biology techniques. The candidate will support drug discovery programs by developing and executing in vitro assays to advance oncology research projects. This role is best suited for candidates with 3–4 years of experience (Bachelor’s industry experience or MS 1 year).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cell-based and biochemical assays to support novel compound characterization.
- Perform cell line construction, gene editing (CRISPR, shRNA/siRNA knockdown), and molecular biology experiments.
- Conduct protein and nucleic acid analyses (Western blot, SDS-PAGE, qPCR, plasmid prep).
- Support mechanism of action (MoA) studies by designing and conducting experiments in oncology-relevant cell models.
- Analyze, manage, and present data clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary drug discovery teams in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field with 3 years of relevant industry experience OR MS with 1 year.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays (proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, MSD, Incucyte-based growth assays).
- Skilled in protein and nucleic acid techniques (Western blot, SDS-PAGE, qPCR, plasmid prep).
- Experience with lentiviral preparation, transfection, and CRISPR KO nucleofection preferred.
- Proficient in data analysis, management, and laboratory automation systems (96- or 384-well formats).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Background in oncology research preferred (NGS-heavy candidates not ideal).
