Ensures that the highest level of patient care possible is provided in a cost-effective manner. Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care and staff development. Keeps informed of nursing care trends, new technology and related developments.The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) provides staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. They support the development of the bedside nurse and foster empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development.
