Director of Finance

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re partnering with a financially strong, highly respected Property & Casualty insurance organization seeking a Director of Finance to help lead and modernize its finance function.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an insurance finance professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, strategic thinking, team leadership, and hands-on problem solving. Reporting closely to the CFO, this individual will play an important role in shaping the company’s financial operations and long-term strategy. Succession planning opportunity.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and mentor the accounting and financial reporting team, including the Controller.

Oversee statutory accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial operations.

Lead FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business strategy.

Drive financial systems improvements, automation, and data-driven decision making.

Strengthen internal controls across key insurance systems, including policy, billing, and claims.

Support Enterprise Risk Management initiatives and risk-control development.

Translate financial results and business trends into actionable insights for senior leadership and the Board.

Partner across the organization to identify opportunities, manage risk, and improve financial performance.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

7–10 years of finance/accounting experience within a P&C insurance organization.

Strong knowledge of statutory accounting and Yellow Book reporting.

Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A.

Understanding of personal lines insurance finance and operations.

Strong technical aptitude with financial systems, data, and process improvement.

Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable getting into the details.

Collaborative leader who can influence across the organization.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.

CPA or MBA preferred.
