Tax Manager – International Tax
A growing professional services firm is looking for an experienced International Tax Manager to join its team on a flexible hybrid basis. This is a strong opportunity for a technically-minded tax professional to take on a trusted advisory role, lead engagement teams, and work closely with Partners on planning and consulting work.
About the Role
You'll act as a go-to technical resource for clients, staying ahead of international and domestic tax developments to spot issues early and offer clear, practical solutions. You'll lead engagement teams from planning through delivery, take ownership of complex return reviews, and play a hands-on role in coaching staff and supporting the firm's wider growth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, applying strong technical knowledge and awareness of shifting international and domestic tax rules, industry trends, and business risk to flag issues, assess exposure, and offer practical solutions to clients and internal teams
- Lead and manage engagement teams across every phase of the engagement ,planning, execution, and delivery, overseeing tax return and workpaper preparation, carrying out technical and strategic reviews, and taking part in final engagement review to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and budget adherence
- Review and sign off on complex U.S. federal, international, and multi-state returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and high net worth individuals
- Provide technical leadership on international tax compliance and reporting, including FBAR filings and Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 1120-F, and GILTI calculations and reporting
- Work closely with Partners on international and domestic tax planning, structuring, and transaction-based consulting to support client goals and manage tax risk
- Research complex and emerging tax issues, distill technical findings, and turn them into clear, actionable guidance for clients and engagement teams
- Mentor and coach staff through ongoing feedback, technical guidance, and performance reviews, supporting senior leadership with training and talent development
- Get involved in practice and business development, including spotting cross-service opportunities, supporting proposals, and building long-term client relationships
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- A Master's degree in Taxation or a related field preferred
- 6 years of technical tax experience in public accounting or a related field, including 3 years in a managerial capacity
- CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent certification required
- Proven ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of an organization, internally and externally
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, with solid operational and project management skills
- Confident use of relevant tax technology
