Tax Manager – High Net Worth Individuals
A leading professional services firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its Private Client / High Net Worth practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven tax professional to take ownership of complex client relationships, lead engagement teams, and play a key role in shaping the wealth planning strategies of affluent individuals and families.
About the Role
You'll take the lead on tax planning and compliance for a portfolio of high net worth individuals and trusts, working closely with clients and their broader advisory teams to help them meet their long-term wealth objectives. This role offers genuine autonomy, client-facing responsibility, and a clear path to progression within a supportive and collaborative environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Technical Delivery
- Take a proactive role in coordinating tax planning strategies alongside clients and their wider advisory network to support family wealth goals
- Oversee and review tax filings for high net worth individuals and trusts, spanning federal, international, state, and local obligations, along with estimated payments, extensions, and audit support
- Contribute to estate planning and wealth transfer initiatives
- Set the direction, scope, and approach for engagements, working collaboratively with client leadership to understand the wider implications of decisions and potential solutions
- Spot opportunities for clients around available credits, incentives, or planning points arising from changes in tax legislation
- Make full use of firm technology and available tools to drive efficient, high-quality engagement delivery, and set that same standard for the wider team
- Act as lead engagement manager, holding responsibility for billing, realisation, and collections
Team & Relationship Development
- Get involved in networking opportunities, both internally and externally, including client meetings and industry events
- Support business development activity, including proposals and pitch involvement
- Coach and develop junior team members across engagements, building their technical knowledge and client management skills
- Work closely with Managers, Senior Managers, and Partners internally, and directly with senior client-side contacts such as Controllers, Accounting Managers, and C-Suite executives
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of experience in public accounting
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or Bar licence required
- Solid experience working with high net worth individuals, alongside S-corps, C-corps, partnerships, LLCs, trusts, and private foundations ,with a clear emphasis on the HNW space
- Strong technical knowledge of fiduciary and estate tax planning and compliance
- Willingness to travel regionally for client work (with occasional overnight stays), as well as for firm-wide training and events
