Support Staff/ Direct Care Staff

Position Summary

Support Staff provide 24-hour supervision, behavioral support, skill reinforcement, and daily-living assistance within the residential setting. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, structured, consistent environment and to supporting resident participation in treatment, education, recreation, meals, hygiene, and bedtime routines.

Minimum Qualifications

Paraprofessional, AP, QP-SU pathway, or other qualification acceptable under organizational and applicable North Carolina standards.

Experience working with adolescents or behavioral health populations preferred.

Ability to manage structure, observe resident behavior, and respond appropriately to safety concerns.

Valid North Carolina driver license preferred for positions involving transport.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision and support to residents across daily routines, community living expectations, and scheduled programming.

Reinforce program rules, treatment expectations, recovery skills, hygiene, and activities of daily living.

Conduct room checks, safety checks, belongings procedures, and contraband-monitoring steps as assigned.

Observe for changes in mood, functioning, peer interactions, or risk and report concerns promptly.

Assist with transportation, meals, recreation, visitation logistics, and resident transitions throughout the day.

Complete shift documentation, observation logs, incident reports, and required communication tools accurately and on time.

Use trauma-informed de-escalation and coaching approaches during conflict, dysregulation, or resistance.

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
