Position Summary
The CPSS uses lived experience and recovery-oriented support skills to help residents build motivation, self-advocacy, hope, wellness routines, and connection to community supports. The CPSS models healthy recovery practices and assists residents with daily structure, skill development, and transition planning within the bounds of role and certification.
Minimum Qualifications
Current North Carolina CPSS credential or eligibility consistent with organizational and payer requirements.
Ability to work effectively with adolescents and families in a structured residential setting.
Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care, peer support principles, and professional boundaries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Promote hope, engagement, and recovery-oriented participation through individual and group peer support interactions.
Support residents in developing self-advocacy, coping skills, daily living routines, and community readiness.
Assist with recovery planning, peer-based wellness activities, and linkage to mutual-help or youth recovery supports where appropriate.
Collaborate with the treatment team regarding resident strengths, barriers, and engagement needs.
Maintain role-appropriate documentation and communication.
Support a positive peer culture and trauma-informed community environment.
