Title: Traffic Engineer III

OVERVIEW
Insight Global is seeking a Traffic Engineer III to support a municipal client in the Phoenix area. This role focuses on analyzing traffic patterns, incident data, and public feedback to inform decisions around roadway usage, signals, and design. The Engineer provides critical insights that guide planning efforts such as evaluating how construction impacts traffic flow or recommending roadway modifications. The position involves close collaboration with city planners, construction teams, and municipal leadership to ensure data-driven decisions are integrated into broader transportation strategies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Participates in and reviews the designing, planning and developing of City traffic signal program
- Works with other engineering employees in designing plans and drafting maps, charts and diagrams
- Reviews the work of engineering employees in conducting surveys of difficult traffic conditions and problems, tabulating and analyzing data and inspecting construction work
- Studies traffic engineering problems and develops or supervises the development of plans for improvements
- Observes markings and other traffic control devices
- Designs plans for safe control and flow of traffic
- Directs surveys of traffic conditions, volume analyses, accident analyses and parking studies, and writes resulting reports
- Receives and answers complaints from the public, confers with department and division heads on mutual and related problems, investigates complaints and speaks on traffic engineering subjects to interested groups
- Acts as departmental representatives at meetings with other departments and agencies upon direction of supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of experience in traffic engineering
- Understanding of construction maintenance practices, statistical survey procedures, electrical traffic control devices, traffic routing techniques, etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Ability and desire to obtain P.E. license in the future if not already licensed
Additional Notes - Compensation & Benefits:
The Traffic Engineer III will start as an hourly, W2 employee with Insight Global. Permanent conversion to an internal employee with the city after one year of employment is desired. An active P.E. license in the state of Arizona is required to receive a full-time/internal role with the city. The compensation range during the first year is $60 - $80/hr. (roughly $125,000 - $165,000 annually). Immediately once employed by Insight Global, this individual will be eligible for health insurance plans (medical, vision, and dental), HSA/FSA - Commuter/Dependent accounts, EAP, telehealth services, and other wellness perks. After ninety days of employment, they will be eligible for 401(k) account contributions and paid sick time compliant with local employment regulations.
Salary : $125,000 - $165,000
