What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Engineer position at Insight Global?
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Test Automation Engineer to support the automation of existing manual test cases for edge computing devices (gateways) deployed on hardware products. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on product validation and test automation, not a traditional IT consulting position.
The ideal candidate has experience working directly with embedded hardware products, edge devices, communication protocols, and automated testing frameworks, with a strong background in Python-based test development.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert existing manual test cases into automated test suites within a Python-based test automation framework.
- Develop, maintain, and execute automated API and system-level tests for embedded edge devices and gateway products.
- Validate device functionality, communication interfaces, and end-to-end workflows across hardware and software components.
- Perform API testing for REST and SOAP web services using tools such as ReadyAPI and custom Python frameworks.
- Develop automated test scripts using Pytest and other Python testing libraries.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in software test automation and product validation.
- Strong Python development and scripting experience.
- Experience with Pytest or similar Python testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with ReadyAPI.
- API testing experience, including REST and SOAP web services.
- Knowledge of HTTP protocols and web-based communications.
- Experience testing embedded systems, edge devices, gateways, or connected hardware products.
- Experience working with CAN Communication Protocol.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions/GitHub Runners.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in hardware/software environments.
