Overview / Job Description
A leading engineering consulting firm supporting hyperscale data center projects is seeking a Controls Project Manager to lead controls delivery for mission-critical construction projects. This individual will manage BMS/BAS, EPMS, and controls-related project execution from design through commissioning and turnover while partnering closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.
The ideal candidate comes from a mission-critical or data center construction background and has experience managing controls projects involving PLCs, automation systems, commissioning, and field execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage controls project execution throughout design, installation, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
- Coordinate with contractors, controls vendors, commissioning teams, and project stakeholders.
- Track project schedules, issue resolution, commissioning readiness, and turnover documentation.
- Review controls, electrical, and mechanical drawings and ensure successful field implementation.
- Support troubleshooting, testing, and startup activities for controls and automation systems.
Required Skills
- 5-10 years of Construction Project Management experience.
- Experience delivering controls, automation, or commissioning projects within mission-critical facilities, hyperscale data centers, or industrial environments.
- Strong PLC and controls systems background.
- Experience with BMS/BAS, EPMS, building automation, or industrial automation systems.
- Ability to read controls, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience managing field execution, startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
Plusses
- Experience with Ignition SCADA, Allen-Bradley PLCs, BACnet/IP, or Modbus TCP.
- Data center commissioning experience including integrated systems testing or failure-mode testing.
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or commissioning management platforms.
- OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, or related safety certifications.
