What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Distribution Field Specialist position at Insight Global?
One of our leading infrastructure construction and engineering services clients is seeking a Power Distribution Field Specialist to join their growing team and support ongoing project in the greater Richmond, VA area. This is a full-time permanent opportunity and this team provides a lot of opportunity for growth! The role will be comprised of roughly 70% onsite at ongoing local projects and 30% remote and this individual will be provided a company car as well as a gas card. The Power Distribution Field Specialist will work on electric utility aerial and underground distribution design projects and be responsible for field surveying, data collection, as well as field notes/sketches. Other responsibilities include:
- Survey and perform field reviews of ongoing project sites (electric facilities) throughout the duration of the project
- Collecting data and taking photos of pole identification markings, job site measurements, existing equipment, height of power equipment and conductions as well as other needed information.
- Properly file data in the system and provide daily status reports.
- Conduct safety briefing discussions identifying critical work steps, potential hazards related to those work steps, and possible control barriers.
- Working closely with engineers, project managers as well as subcontracting teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Engineering or a related field of study
- Prior experience within telecommunications, power distribution, or power design engineering is highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record for the past 5 years.
Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 (dependent on prior experience)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
