Title: Piping Designer

Location: Kansas City, MO or Houston, TX

Pay Range: Wide range based on years of experience and education

• Assistant Level - Bachelors Degree & 5-6 years experience - $31/hr to $37/hr
• Staff Level – Bachelors Degree 7-10 years experience - $38/hr to $45/hr
• Staff Level - Bachelors Degree 10-13 years experience - $46/hr to $60/hr
• Senior Level - Bachelors Degree 13 years experience - $60/hr to $80/hr

Job Description:

A Piping Designer will perform various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of proposal and construction documented as part of a project team. This position will work on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

• Perform a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components
• Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards. Produce complete PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written description from the design engineer.
• Execute basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the piping discipline.
• Plan and develop drawings for production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
• Execute a variety of piping design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components and sketches.
• Execute changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
• Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects. Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
• Review design drawings for quality assurance within scope, budget and schedule.
• Perform projects tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
• Compute calculations for layouts, equipment, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Responsible for the revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information are stored in a logical and well-structured manner.
• Responsible for clear and concise written and verbal communications, as it relates to the project client coordination.

Qualifications:

• Engineering Technology or Design Technology Degree
• 5 to 15 years professional experience
• Piping & layout design: Pipe routing, system layout, equipment layouts, isometric extraction, modeling activities etc.
• Majority being within Heavy Industrial, Piping and/or Power Industry projects
• Ex: Nuclear, Fossil, Power Generation etc.
• Software: AutoCAD - all 3D Design
• Must be comfortable with travel to KC for training - if based out of Houston

Plus Qualifications:

• SmartPlant 3D
• Open to candidates with other 3D software experience - for piping design
• Power Generation/Piping Specific project experience
• P&ID experience

Compensation:

$35/hr to $80/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
