An employer in the Hampton, VA area is seeking a Secret Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA). This individual will be responsible for developing analytical frameworks to assess mission needs, operational challenges, and capability gaps, while applying operations research and applied mathematics techniques to support data-driven decision-making and prioritization efforts. The role will involve designing and executing basic simulations, such as Monte Carlo or R-based analyses, to evaluate different scenarios, as well as building mathematical models and algorithms to support mission planning and resource allocation. Additionally, the individual will translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams supporting mission operations and strategic initiatives. This position requires working on site five days per week and maintaining an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
Required Skills & Experience
- Active Secret security clearance (must have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI)
- Bachelor’s Degree (STEM preferred)
- 2 years of experience in operations research systems analysis
- Strong background in applied math, statistics, or operations research
- Experience developing analytical models, frameworks, and decision-support tools
- Exposure to simulation techniques (e.g., Monte Carlo, R, or similar tools)
- Ability to think critically and apply math driven analysis to real world problems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Formal ORSA training through Air Force (AFIT) or Army equivalent programs
- Experience working within defense or national security environments
- Background in data science is a plus, particularly if focused on analytical problem-solving (not purely engineering/coding)
- Advanced degrees- Masters or PhD
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
