Pay: $60- $72Per Hour
We’re hiring a Mechanical Test Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team advancing next-generation wearable and consumer electronic devices. This role is highly hands-on and impact-driven, focused on defining and executing mechanical verification strategies for both research and new product development.
You’ll work closely with hardware engineers, research scientists, and partner teams to design test systems, develop novel methodologies, and ensure hardware maturity through rigorous validation.
What You’ll Do
- Define, implement, and execute mechanical verification methodologies for new systems and product designs
- Develop scalable test infrastructure and design custom mechanical test fixtures
- Architect and document novel testing protocols for research hardware and consumer electronics
- Execute verification testing across thermal, vibration, mechanical stress, optics, and related domains
- Support system bring-up and debug efforts; clearly communicate test plans, results, and risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define test requirements, metrics, and coverage goals
- Track coverage metrics, document results, and manage defects
- Perform statistical analysis and post-processing of test data
- Coordinate internal and external resources for test setup and execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of experience in mechanical qualification and verification of small, electromechanical consumer devices
- Proven experience developing novel mechanical test methods
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or NX
- Experience designing and fabricating custom test fixtures
- Strong background creating test procedures and validation processes
- Experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for test automation and data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams to drive hardware readiness
Preferred Experience
- System- and subsystem-level mechanical verification
- Instrumentation and motion control integration (motors, drivers, encoders, sensors)
- Mechanical fabrication processes and electro-mechanical assembly
- Working with commercial mechanical test systems (e.g., Instron)
- Statistical data analysis and measurement system analysis
- Test automation implementation
- Knowledge of kinematics and human body movements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
$60 - $72 per hour
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
