Summary
Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Richmond, VA for one of their top customers in the energy industry. This role supports steam turbine service engineering efforts across outage planning, execution, and complex repair projects. You’ll act as a technical lead for steam turbine repairs, provide guidance to field teams and customers, and support the design and repair of turbine components. The position partners closely with global design teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high‑quality solutions for steam turbine services, parts, and upgrades. You’ll serve as a key technical interface for complex service and repair projects, ensuring engineering deliverables are met on time and supporting continuous improvement across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Must‑Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 2 years of hands‑on field execution experience (power generation preferred)
- Proven experience with steam turbine outage planning and execution
- Ability to provide technical guidance to Field engineers, Service managers, and Customers
- Experience creating or supporting inspection and test plans for site and repair shop work, and Root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions
- Comfortable serving as the technical point of contact across engineering, sourcing, quality, and service teams
Plusses
- Experience designing or supporting steam turbine components
- Knowledge of steam turbine systems and balance‑of‑plant operations
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Steam turbine disassembly, assembly, and startups
- Rotating and stationary component inspections and repairs
- CAD experience (CATIA is a plus)
- Project coordination or light project leadership experience
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean engineering practices
- 5 years of experience in steam turbine service engineering
Compensation:
$47/hr to $51/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
Salary : $93,000 - $103,000
