Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related field.
- Experience/knowledge with industrial control systems, PLCs, SCADA, or instrumentation (coursework & co-op/internships apply)
- Experience with AutoCAD software (Revit, AutoCAD, plant 3D, etc.) or an interest to learn
- Motivated to grow into expanded engineering role over time
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Industrial control and SCADA system design experience
- Experience preparing or supporting construction documents such as P&IDs, Control schematics, loop drawings, or panel layouts.
- Experience coordinating with multidiscipline teams
- Experience participating in field activities such as site assessments, construction support, testing, and commissioning.
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Controls Systems BIM Designer to support an international engineering client in Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC. This person will join the team that's heavily supporting data center projects across the nation. Candidates will contribute as integrated members of a control systems team, with drafting and modeling being one component of a broader technical role. This candidate will be working under the direction of senior engineers develop technically accurate construction documents. He/she will be using AutoCAD-based tools, Revit, and general CAD platforms applied in support of control system design rather than as a standalone drafting function.
On a day-to-day basis, candidates should expect to support the design of industrial control and SCADA systems across a range of market sectors. This includes assisting with equipment selection, developing drawings and specifications, coordinating with multidiscipline teams, and participating in field activities such as site assessments,
construction support, testing, and commissioning. Over time, the role is intended to progress from design support toward increased engineering responsibility.
This is a six-month contract-to-hire position with a hybrid office schedule. This person will be expected to work in office 3-4 days in office per week with flexibility for more WFH days as time goes on.
