The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading maintenance operations across multiple service locations and repair facilities. This role oversees teams of maintenance supervisors, shop leaders, and technicians responsible for maintaining a large fleet of heavy-duty vehicles, equipment, and support assets. The ideal candidate will drive safety, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and cost-effective maintenance practices while ensuring maximum fleet uptime.
Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance operations across 5 service and repair facilities, overseeing maintenance supervisors, shop leaders, and technician teams responsible for supporting a fleet of 90 heavy-duty vehicles and equipment assets.
- Own regional fleet maintenance performance, including budget management, P&L accountability, labor costs, inventory control, vendor management, and capital planning to maximize operational efficiency.
- Direct preventative maintenance programs, repairs, and equipment reliability initiatives to improve uptime, reduce downtime, and support operations across multiple service locations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, environmental requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations through routine inspections, quality audits, and process improvement initiatives.
- Recruit, develop, and lead maintenance personnel while driving workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, and operational excellence across the region.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of experience managing fleet maintenance operations, multiple shops, or regional maintenance teams, with proven leadership of supervisors, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, fleet operations, and heavy-duty vehicle repair, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, inventory, vendor partnerships, and operational expenses, with the ability to analyze operational and financial performance.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety programs, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office, and employee coaching/development, supported by strong communication and leadership skills.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of leadership experience overseeing fleet maintenance operations, technicians, and/or multiple maintenance facilities.
- Experience supporting large commercial vehicle fleets within transportation, logistics, waste, construction, utility, or similar industries.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, braking systems, and emissions-related components; ASE certifications or equivalent credentials preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training, certifications, or related education preferred.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
