Overview
Insight Global is seeking Field Technicians to support an environmental and industrial services client in the Chester, VA area. This role is highly hands-on and field-driven, combining basic chemistry knowledge with mechanical work in industrial environments.
This opportunity is best suited for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude—including those with military, maintenance, or field service backgrounds—who are comfortable working outdoors, using tools, and climbing elevated industrial structures (200–300 ft) to collect emissions data.
Must-Haves
- Foundational understanding of chemistry or exposure to lab/science environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude; experience using hand tools or working on equipment
- Comfortable performing physical, outdoor work in industrial settings
- Ability to follow strict safety protocols and procedures
- Willingness and ability to work at heights (200–300 ft)
- Ability to travel and work non-traditional schedules (overnight/midweek)
Plusses
- Prior military experience (especially Navy, mechanical, electrical, or engineering roles)
- Background in maintenance, mechanical work, or field service
- Experience in industrial environments (chemical, petrochemical, utilities, power plants)
- Experience working outside of a traditional lab setting (field-based or hands-on roles)
- Familiarity with environmental sampling or industrial equipment
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform environmental sampling and data collection in the field
- Climb industrial stacks and elevated structures to collect air emissions data
- Work with gas systems, fittings, and sampling equipment
- Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on sampling equipment
- Safely handle and manipulate industrial hardware and components
- Apply basic chemistry knowledge to environmental testing and compliance processes
- Follow all safety standards and regulatory procedures
- Document findings and support reporting efforts
- Travel to job sites and operate company-provided vehicle as needed
