Job Description
Insight Global is partnering with a leading mechanical construction contractor to identify a Mechanical Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This role is critical to driving successful project pursuits by developing accurate, competitive cost estimates across mechanical scopes, including HVAC, process piping, and plumbing systems.
The Mechanical Estimator will play a key role in analyzing project requirements, evaluating risks, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure well-informed bid submissions. This individual will contribute to strategic decision-making by identifying cost-saving opportunities, improving efficiency, and supporting high-volume bid environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive project cost estimates
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Build accurate labor, material, and subcontractor pricing models
- Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams to gather pricing and scope details
- Prepare, organize, and submit complete bid packages within deadlines
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and opportunities for cost optimization or value engineering
- Support multiple bids in a fast-paced, high-volume preconstruction environment
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of experience in mechanical estimating or a closely related field
- Experience with process piping and/or process mechanical projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, QuickPen, Bluebeam, or similar tools)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with value engineering and cost optimization strategies
- Exposure to high-volume bid environments
Pay
$80,000 - $120,000 (flex bonus structure, 401k, benefits, mileage reimbursement etc)
