Electrical Engineer
Industry: Industrial Manufacturing / Food Production

Pay Rate: 43/hr-47/hr
- Hours: 9-5pm, 9-6pm, One day in the weekend
Position Overview
This Electrical Engineer will be a hands‑on technical contributor supporting a high‑volume industrial bakery operation. This role is focused on electrical troubleshooting, controls modernization, and day‑to‑day maintenance support for production equipment. The engineer will work closely with production, mechanical technicians, and facilities to maintain uptime, troubleshoot issues, and help upgrade aging controls and systems to modern standards.
This is not a desk engineering role. The right candidate is comfortable walking the floor, diagnosing issues in real time, and rebuilding or upgrading control systems as needed.
Team Structure
- Small maintenance team consisting of approximately 3.5 technicians
- 3 full‑time technicians
- 1 part‑time technician
- Mechanics handle some electrical troubleshooting
- Electrical Engineer serves as the primary electrical and controls expert
Ideal Background
- Electrical Engineer with an industrial manufacturing background
- Strong hands‑on electrical and troubleshooting experience
- Comfort working in food production or high‑speed manufacturing environments
- Experience modernizing or upgrading older equipment and controls
- Candidate may come from an HVAC and controls background with strong PLC exposure
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
- Candidates with strong industrial electrical experience and partial engineering education will be considered
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control systems
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, motors, and relays
- Know how to read a logic diagram

- How do you troubleshoot, look for program and SW
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment
- Walk the production floor to proactively identify issues or aging components
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production, mechanical, and electrical teams
- Diagnose electrical, controls, and motor issues and determine corrective actions
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks based on production needs
Electrical and Controls Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade:
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- PLC systems and control logic
- Relays, connectors, motor starters, and motor drives
- Analyze equipment performance and replace failing components proactively
- Rebuild and modernize control systems to current standards
- Interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
- Program, diagnose, and modify PLCs as needed
Production Equipment Supported
- Dough production and processing systems
- Donut forming and cutting equipment utilizing PLCs and sensors
- Proofer systems controlling temperature and humidity
- Blowers, motors, conveyors
- Fryer systems
- Temperature sensors

- Fresh air makeup systems

- Spiral and cooling conveyor systems utilizing relays and VFDs
- Depositors and pneumatic control systems

Facilities and HVAC Exposure
- Support basic HVAC maintenance tasks, including:
- Changing blower motors, belts, and filters
- Cleaning condenser coils
- Work around 10‑ton rooftop HVAC units
- Maintain hot water heaters and other low‑tech facility systems
- No HVAC certification required
- Ideal candidate has prior exposure to HVAC systems, controls, burners, and PLC‑driven equipment
