Title: Entry-Level Electrical Designer (AutoCAD)
Location: Chesapeake, VA (100% On-Site)
Pay Rate: $25–$28/hour
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience using AutoCAD (internships or academic experience accepted)
- Strong interest in electrical design, utilities, or infrastructure projects
- Solid communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work 100% on-site, five days per week
- Must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle report (MVR), and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to or experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
- Familiarity with electrical distribution systems or utility design
- Degree or coursework in Engineering, Drafting, Design, or related field
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and drafting of overhead electrical power line upgrades using AutoCAD
- Interpret and apply engineering standards, utility specifications, and design requirements
- Collaborate closely with senior designers and project teams to develop accurate design packages
- Participate in a structured 90-day training program, shadowing experienced team members to learn workflows, tools, and industry standards
- Make updates and revisions to designs based on feedback, field data, and project needs
- Ensure all designs are completed with attention to detail, quality, and accuracy
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding project progress and updates
- Maintain organized documentation and adhere to company and client processes
