Insight Global is seeking a Cost Estimator to support a top energy company in Houston, TX with the engineering, procurement, and construction of multiple hyperscale, mission-critical data centers across the United States. The Cost Estimator is responsible for developing tender-phase project cost estimates by performing quantity take-offs from drawings, building estimate models, and pricing materials, labor, equipment, subcontracted scopes, logistics, and indirect costs. The role prepares Basis of Estimate documentation, maintains cost databases and benchmarks, evaluates cost risks and contingencies, and supports GMP pricing and commercial strategy development. This position works closely with Supply Chain, Contracts, and Commercial teams to validate pricing, assumptions, and scope alignment, and supports bid clarifications, negotiations, and the post-award handover of estimate inputs.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of experience in estimating or cost development for large-scale construction or industrial projects ($200M projects)
- 8 years of experience demonstrating a strong understanding of quantity take-offs, unit-rate development, and construction methods across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical works
- Proven ability to translate technical scope into clear, defensible cost estimates (Portfolio of projects exceeding $300 million, Projects focused on construction and general contracting)
- 8 years of experience supporting competitive tenders with multiple subcontractor and supplier interfaces (experience supporting between 5-10 subcontractors at a time)
- Experience developing estimates under GMP or cost‑reimbursable commercial models is preferred
- Familiarity with structured estimating practices aligned with AACE / North American cost engineering standards is preferred
- 3 years of experience in Data Center or mission-critical facility estimating
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying or 15 years of progressive estimating experience
Salary : $100,000 - $160,000
