Hybrid
Must‑Haves
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license and valid driver’s license
- Experience applying civil engineering principles to land development, transportation construction, and maintenance
- Experience managing staffing, budgeting, planning, scheduling, and problem‑solving
- Experience with land use/development processes (rezoning, public meetings, plan reviews)
Plusses
- Advanced knowledge of transportation planning, drainage, traffic engineering, roadway design, and construction
- Experience serving as a liaison with local governments
- Experience coordinating emergency operations (snow removal, emergency response plans)
- Familiarity with environmental compliance in transportation projects
Day‑to‑Day
- 8-4:30pm- can be flexible on start/end times.
- Onsite 4 days a week, remote 1 day a week.
- Working with Zoning and planning managers.
- Support the Resident Administrator/Engineer in coordinating and managing VDOT resources across residency programs
- Serve as liaison to local governments, representing the company in meetings, committees, and public forums
- Lead communication efforts with stakeholders, providing authoritative information and gathering feedback
- Oversee emergency operations planning, training, and resource coordination
- Act as responsible charge engineer for land development:
- Review and approve subdivision/site plans, rezoning applications, plats, and permits
- Review traffic studies, geometrics, hydraulics, utilities, and environmental impacts
- Provide guidance to localities, engineers, and citizens
- Resolve land development issues and coordinate limited‑access impacts
- Administer residency maintenance programs, budgets, and projects to meet performance targets
- Monitor environmental compliance
- Coordinate with district staff on project delivery, scoping, and status updates
- Oversee residency safety programs and implement safety policies

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
