Salary: Up to $124,800/year
Shift Options: M-F (7am - 4 pm OR 3pm - 12pm OR 11pm - 8 am) OR Friday-Monday (2 pm-1 am)
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of building or facilities engineering experience, with the ability to confidently explain system functionality and demonstrate hands‑on technical capability
- Hands‑on experience supporting large commercial chiller systems (200 tons or greater), including understanding system operation and how chillers interface with evaporators
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC issues and effectively communicate findings and next steps with external service vendors
- Comfort working in environments where Building Management Systems (BMS) control operations; no programming responsibilities required
- Electrical experience supporting commercial building systems up to 480 volts
- Working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, including flush valves and urinal and toilet system components
- Familiarity with data center or mission‑critical equipment, including supporting mechanical or electrical infrastructure
- Knowledge of clean and dry air systems, including humidification controls
- Strong understanding of and adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and work safety practices
Job Description
Insight Global is supporting a facilities services partner in their search for a Building Engineer to support a large, multi‑building corporate campus in Santa Clara. This role is well‑suited for a hands‑on engineer with strong experience maintaining and repairing complex commercial building systems, including HVAC and chillers.
The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This position supports both routine maintenance and critical repair needs across the site while adhering to safety standards and operational best practices.
Responsibilities:
-Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, furniture, fire/life safety, and building control systems
-Maintain facility and building systems in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, safety requirements, and internal directives
-Support and help execute an energy management program, ensuring systems operate at optimal efficiency Assist with the implementation and execution of preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtime
-Respond to emergency repair situations and system failures as needed
-Conduct inspections of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire alarm systems, to verify proper operation within design standards and required environmental conditions
-Follow departmental procedures related to the safe handling, use, and disposal of hazardous materials Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
