Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior BMS Hardware Engineer to join the next-generation autonomous aircraft development program for Urban Air Mobility (UAM). The engineer will lead the design and development of safety-critical Battery Management System (BMS) hardware for Gen 6 aircraft platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced BMS hardware systems for high-voltage aircraft applications.
- Design and develop analog/digital circuits, power conversion boards, sensor interfaces, and embedded control hardware.
- Work closely with Systems, Mechanical, Test, Safety, and Certification teams to deliver fully integrated and reliable hardware solutions.
- Perform hardware integration, validation, troubleshooting, and rigorous testing for safety-critical aerospace systems.
- Own hardware lifecycle activities including design, verification, procurement support, and production readiness.
- Participate in design reviews, technical requirement definition, certification support, and engineering best practices.
- Support documentation and verification activities aligned with aerospace certification standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical hiring/interview processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of experience OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience.
- Strong experience in Battery Management Systems (BMS) and High Voltage (HV) systems.
- Background in aerospace, automotive, EV, or other safety-critical embedded systems environments.
- Hands-on expertise in analog and digital electronics design.
- Strong experience with PCB/PCBA schematic capture and layout tools, preferably Altium Designer.
- Experience with embedded hardware platforms including:
- Microcontrollers
- Microprocessors
- FPGA-based systems
- Firmware/hardware integration
- Good understanding of:
- Embedded systems architecture
- Sensor interface boards
- Power electronics / power conversion design
- Interconnect systems
- Strong debugging, validation, and hardware integration skills.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with aerospace standards such as:
- DO-254
- DO-160G
- Experience working on electric aircraft, eVTOL, EV, or autonomous mobility platforms.
- Exposure to certification-driven development environments.
