Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in industrial controls engineering within a manufacturing or
automation environment.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens), HMI development, and
networked control systems.
• Experience integrating automation systems such as AMRs, AGVs, conveyors, and
robotics into production environments.
• Strong understanding of material flow and lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with robot programming (e.g., Fanuc), machine vision systems, or laser
marking technologies.
• Familiarity with digital twin modeling, simulation tools, or virtual commissioning.

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer with a strong background in industrial controls
and automation integration to join the Autonomous Robotics Center’s Center of Excellence
(CoE). This role focuses on validating and standardizing controls strategies for automated
material handling systems (AMRs, AGVs, conveyors, robotics), ensuring reliable deployment
across GM manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in
controls engineering, cross-functional collaboration, and a passion for continuous
improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead validation and integration of controls systems for automated material handling
technologies across manufacturing sites.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, equipment suppliers, and plant personnel to
troubleshoot and resolve controls-related issues during installation, commissioning,
and launch.
• Develop and maintain standard controls architectures, PLC logic templates, and
interface specifications.
• Participate in equipment design reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance
with safety and electrical standards.
• Support system debug and issue resolution during equipment installation and ramp-up
phases.
• Contribute to documentation efforts including system schematics, operating
procedures, and training materials.
• Review simulation assumptions and system behavior to ensure accurate controls
representation.
• Analyze performance data to identify opportunities for improving system reliability and
uptime.
• Coordinate with IT teams on network integration and system connectivity.
• Follow standardized processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
