A government entity in Kenai, Alaska is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support financial oversight across the organization. This role reports directly to the Controller and plays a hands-on leadership role within the accounting team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll processing, cash receipts, and bank reconciliations
- Review accounts payable batches and ensure accurate, timely processing
- Lead grant accounting and reporting activities
- Support compliance with applicable government financial and reporting standards
- Manage and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all processes
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- At least four years of accounting experience
- At least two years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of grant accounting and government governance structures
Nice to Have
- CPA or CPA-eligible
