Job Summary

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a temporary, non-tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry. This is an academic year 10-month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

1 -

  • Develop and teach a variety of courses in chemistry, ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and/or Environmental Science majors; some online teaching may be required, as needed

2 -

  • Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.

3 -

  • Engagement in professional development, service, and scholarship activities.

4 -

  • Travel to fulfill instructional or other duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.

5 -

  • Maintain a commitment to high-impact educational practices and student success.

6 -

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely-related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate level credits in chemistry.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to highly effective and engaging science education.
  • Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field.

Required Experience

  • Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • Expertise or strong background in biochemistry or environmental chemistry.
  • Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction.
  • Recent experience teaching college-level courses in chemistry
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate research especially through Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs).
  • Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.
