Department:Wexner Center for Arts | Tech Operations
The Video Production Specialist serves as the primary Video Engineer and Video Content Producer for the Wexner Center for the Arts and reports to the Director of Production and Technical Services. This role supports live performances, exhibitions, academic programs, and institutional communications through professional video systems engineering and planned video content production.
Responsibilities include multi‑camera recording and livestreaming; cue‑based playback; accessibility workflows (ASL and captioning); digital signage; streaming platform management; maintaining an accurate inventory of AV and video equipment; monitoring and updating AV event data in shared calendars and event management platforms; and proposing system upgrades and enhancements to better support Center programmers and their presentations. The position also plans, captures, edits, and distributes video content for archival, marketing, and storytelling purposes. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Supervision
- Supervises intermittent staff (stagehands and contractors)
Live Production, Video Engineering & Event Support
- Design, install, and maintain professional video systems and provide video and AV support for exhibitions, live performances, touring productions, conferences, commencements, donor events, special events, and public programs.
- Operate PTZ camera systems, QLab playback, hybrid and virtual event workflows, and accessibility accommodations (ASL interpretation and live captioning).
- Configure multi‑display environments, playback systems, and digital signage.
- Monitor and update AV event data in shared calendars and event management platforms to ensure accurate scheduling and coordination.
- Collaborate with artists, programmers, stage management, and technical teams to deliver successful productions.
- Execute professional recordings and livestreams using multi‑camera and multi‑source workflows.
- Operate Blackmagic switching and routing systems.
- Manage Vimeo and other institutional streaming platforms and implement accessible stream layouts.
- Plan and produce video content supporting marketing, communications, engagement, and institutional storytelling initiatives.
- Document performances, exhibitions, lectures, and programs for archival and promotional use.
- Edit and deliver finished video assets optimized for web, social media, and campaign use.
- Support AV installation, operation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Monitor, update, and maintain accurate AV and video equipment inventory records.
- Evaluate existing systems and propose upgrades or enhancements to meet evolving production needs.
- Maintain organized workflows, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience
Video Systems, Projection & Display
- Proficiency with live projection systems, including projectors and video displays
- Understanding of video signal paths, routing, and distribution
- Experience working in multi‑display and multi‑format environments
- Knowledge of video image quality standards and content management workflows
- Experience with QLab and cue‑based show control environments
- Experience with BrightSign content playback, management, and authoring
- Network management and configuration for AV and streaming environments
- Understanding of IP‑based AV systems
- Experience with vMix, OBS Studio, or similar playback and streaming platforms
- Proficiency with multi‑camera production systems, including PTZ cameras
- Multi‑source routing and switching workflows
- Experience streaming content across multiple platforms
- Experience with the Blackmagic ecosystem, including cameras, signal conversion, routers, recorders, and switchers
- Management of Vimeo and similar streaming distribution accounts
- Experience with upload workflows, livestream setup, access control, and content organization
- Experience supporting touring productions, presented events, and live entertainment
- Experience supporting ASL interpreter video feeds and live captioning (CART)
- Experience with digital signage systems and distributed display networks
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
- Clear communication skills and effective teamwork
- Strong customer service and client support skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse artists, presenters, clients, and audiences
- High attention to detail, adaptability, and situational awareness
- Experience in video recording and editing
- Theatre technology or performing arts production experience
- Familiarity with digital signage networks
- Experience designing or repairing AV or electronic systems
