Overview
The Video Production intern will work both in office and during games to assist with live production and post-production for the Columbus Blue Jackets video department. The intern will report to the Video Production Manager and Video Producers to assist with the following items: Shooting and editing video and interviews; shooting in-game footage; logging and labeling footage; fulfilling third party footage requests; assisting with gameday set-up; helping cover community and corporate events.
Duties And Tasks
Daily Production:
The Video Production intern will work both in office and during games to assist with live production and post-production for the Columbus Blue Jackets video department. The intern will report to the Video Production Manager and Video Producers to assist with the following items: Shooting and editing video and interviews; shooting in-game footage; logging and labeling footage; fulfilling third party footage requests; assisting with gameday set-up; helping cover community and corporate events.
Duties And Tasks
Daily Production:
- Shoot and edit video from practices, games, and general event coverage
- Fulfill internal and third-party footage requests as needed
- Assist in post production from editing video to motion graphics
- Log and label DSLR footage from previous games
- Applying closed captions to videos when applicable
- Assist with camera set-up
- Shoot event action with DSLR camera
- Shadow game night responsibilities of interest
- To understand and be able to perform the basic daily responsibilities of a professional sports organizations’ video production department
- To acquire hands-on experience with post-production software
- Gaining the skills of working in a LIVE environment with quick and often immediate deadlines
- The understanding on how to work in a team environment and with other departments within the organization
- The ability to utilize footage shot and edited to supplement their personal production reel
- Average of 20 intern hours available each week, based on game schedule
- Internship timeline – August – End of the Season
- Must be enrolled in a two or four year educational program.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, often stressful video production environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Background in video production or live production is preferred
- Please note this is an unpaid internship.
