Duties/Responsibilities:

Student Recovery Support

  • Facilitate recovery meetings, under the supervision of the CRC Coordinator
  • Hold office hours in the CRC to provide peer support to students at the discretion of the CRC Coordinator
  • If qualified, the GA will support the CRC Coordinator as a CPS-AD, assisting with recovery coaching at the coordinator’s discretion.
  • Assist the CRC Coordinator and Assistant Director of Collegiate Recovery, Prevention, and Research in planning and facilitating monthly skills seminars for CRC students

Duties/Responsibilities:

Benchmarking and Professional Development

  • Participate in ongoing program development and benchmarking
  • Attend collegiate recovery retreats, summits, and conferences to assist the CRC Coordinator in student programming, activities, or presentations
  • Attend bi-weekly Fontaine Staff meetings
  • Facilitate communication to CRC members around upcoming events in the community and at CRC to support Recovery
  • Participate in professional development as determined by the GA and the CRC Coordinator
  • Assist in collaborative opportunities and outreach events to increase support and awareness around recovery and the CRC

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as posting, printing, writing, creating, mailing, and distributing communicative materials
  • Maintain general upkeep around CRC space, i.e. water jugs, snacks, cleanliness, etc.

Position Summary:

The Graduate Assistant (GA) of the CRC reports to the Assistant Director of Collegiate Recovery, Prevention, and Research. The GA will maintain between 13 to 20 hours per-week, to be determined prior to the beginning of each academic term. Any needs to adjust these hours will be communicated to the CRC Coordinator at least one week in advance. The primary duties of the GA will include being present and co-leading Got Recovery and weekly community nights/ seminars, opening/closing the CRC space on their assigned days. Other duties include supporting general program development, assisting the CRC Coordinator with maintaining communication with students, assisting in carrying out seasonal events, including the sober tailgate/watch parties, holding office hours, and connecting students with other support as needed.

UHC Minimum:

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

UHC Preferred:

  • The GA will seek Support Dawg certification, and if able, attend a CARES Academy.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies :

  • Knowledge and understanding of substance misuse prevention, recovery and relapse prevention theory and practice. Demonstrated knowledge of college student development and emerging needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care. Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Communicate clearly, accurately, and professionally in all interactions and materials representing the CRC

Physical Demands:

Effectively communicate and interact with a variety of students and staff via email, telephone, and in person. Transport light weight equipment (computer and program materials) across campus and to offsite presentations.
