Responsibilities
The FSU Office of Digital Learning and Academic Technology (ODL) seeks a data-focused front-end developer to join our team as we support online and in-classroom instruction at Florida State University. As a front-end BI (business intelligence) developer, you’ll be responsible for supporting ODL’s data reporting and web operations. Working within the reporting and compliance team, you’ll create, curate, and analyze data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. You’ll also develop interactive front-end dashboards and visual reports for campus stakeholders and oversight agencies. In collaboration with creative services staff, you’ll translate design wireframes into web-based components and interfaces – helping our office communicate timely information and meaningful reports that bridge the gap between data visualization, design, and front-end code.
Using advanced data technologies, assists the Reporting and Compliance team in creating, curating, and analyzing online course data and financial reports for the Florida Board of Governors (BOG), Florida VirtualCampus (FLVC), and ODL/FSU administrators. Reconciles internal distance learning data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance and convey complex findings as requested. Creates custom, interactive front-end dashboards and visual reports as requested.
Working in conjunction with the Communications & Creative Services Team, analyzes, builds, and modifies web-based interfaces to ensure they function within a variety of browser types and screen settings, meet web standards, and are consistent with brand guidelines.
Helps reporting team apply university policies, procedures, and practices to collect, maintain, and report on internal auxiliary account and DL fee records. Compiles, reviews, and ensures financial data pertaining to distance learning courses is properly recorded and assessed, reducing the potential for lost revenue. Follows requirements established by university accreditors to supply verified and accurate DL fee reports to fiscal contacts within academic departments and in the student registration system, ensuring the transparency and approval of fees.Reviews student accounts for DL fee assessment accuracy as needed or if requested.
Supports the ODL Data Manager and Distance Learning Assistant by responding to inquiries via the ticketing system, phone calls, or in-person requests. Advises students, staff, and faculty on matters related to online programs, academic data, and academic program compliance.
Provides data analytics reporting for ODL’s websites and identifies current and future needs to ensure web applications adhere to federal and state regulations and support the mission of ODL.
Assists with researching and implementing state and federal regulations including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and federal licensure disclosures.
Assists in special projects and other duties in support of ODL's mission as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
