STEM/STEAM Instructor Specific:
Instructors for STEM & Laboratory, Math, Science, English, Foreign Language and other enrichment based courses will be expected to:
- Teach hands-on, inquiry-based STEM courses with integrated lab experiences for high school students in the Upward Bound Math & Science Summer Academy. Focus on experiential learning, scientific reasoning, and college-level lab exposure to prepare students for STEM majors and careers.
- Design and deliver engaging STEM coursework that incorporates laboratory-based experiments, demonstrations, and applied research activities
- Develop age-appropriate lab modules that emphasize the scientific method, data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Ensure safe operation of laboratory spaces, including proper use of equipment, materials, and adherence to all safety protocols
- Comply with university policies, laboratory safety standards, and federal TRIO regulations
- Create an engaging grade level appropriate course curriculum for each course taught.
- Effectively implement curriculum developed for each course to include utilizing a variety of teaching techniques.
- Provide feedback on students’ performance via quantitative or qualitative methods.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to build rapport with youth.
