JOB SUMMARY
The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for leading daily shop floor operations, ensuring disciplined execution of company policies, and driving production performance to meet customer delivery and financial objectives. This role serves as the central point of coordination between Production Control, Programming, and Engineering, enabling machinists to remain focused on production while improving overall shop efficiency, output, and margins.

Key Responsibilities
Shop Floor Leadership & Discipline
· Provide daily supervision of all machine shop personnel in accordance with company policies and handbook (breaks, attendance, time off, cell phone usage, and vacation scheduling)
· Maintain a structured, accountable, and productive work environment
Performance Management
· Conduct and manage Direct Labor (DL) performance reviews, focusing on key metrics such as scrap, output, and machine utilization
· Monitor and drive improvements in individual and team performance
Production Execution & Scheduling
· Direct shop personnel to execute the Production Control schedule, clearly defining what jobs run, when they run, and at which work centers
· Coordinate workflow and resource allocation to ensure realistic and achievable schedules
· Ensure raw materials, tooling, and fixtures are available at work centers to support uninterrupted production
Engineering & Technical Coordination
· Review released engineering prints and routers daily to assess manufacturability, required fixtures, tooling needs, and potential risks
· Act as the primary liaison between the shop floor and Engineering, resolving all operator questions to minimize downtime and keep machinists focused on production
Programming Coordination
· Lead daily huddles with Programming to align on short- and long-term programming priorities
· Assign and track programming responsibilities, ensuring clarity on ownership, timing, and deliverables
Continuous Improvement & Efficiency
· Identify and implement process improvements to increase shop efficiency, throughput, and profitability
· Optimize utilization of machines, labor, and work centers
