Our client is an international manufacturer of cell culture media, reagents, specialty chemicals, and advanced processing solutions supporting breakthrough work across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, cell & gene therapy, and vaccine production and they are looking to identify and hire a MSS Manufacturing Technician ( Compounder / Blender / Mixer) on a long-term contract basis.
The MSS Manufacturing Technician will:
- Perform all functions in a Prototype Manufacturing Plant supporting Company product lines and services. Primary tasks include powder and liquid product manufacture and raw material inventory management to support the Express Media Service program. Secondary activities are supporting process development and investigations for R&D, Quality, and other Operations departments.
- Attention to detail is critical to all duties and responsibilities.
- Perform all tasks in compliance with safety and quality policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Manufacture prototype and non-regulated products following manufacturing directions and protocols described with paper and paperless systems.
- Perform all steps of non-GMP powder manufacturing: Staging, Powder Formulation, Powder Manufacturing using Impact Mills and IBC Blenders, Trace Powder Manufacture using Ball Mills, Powder Packaging and Labeling – Finished Goods and Semi-Finished Goods, and In-process testing of hydrated samples (pH, osmolality, appearance, powder density as needed).
- Perform all steps of non-GMP liquid manufacturing: Staging, Liquid Formulation – Powder Hydration, Mixing, Step-based ingredient additions, Liquid Processing and Packaging – Aseptic Filling, Packaging, and Labeling, In-process testing (pH, osmolality, appearance, liquid density as needed).
- Assist in Test Batch preparation, Investigations, and Process Development projects.
- Operate plant equipment including: Autoclave, Laboratory equipment including scales, balances, pH meters, osmometers, and Formulation and weighing stations for liquids and powders running SAP.
- Train EMS manufacturing technicians in powder manufacturing and inventory tasks.
- Follow proper aseptic technique when sterile filling products in laminar flow hoods.
- Perform inspection of materials and finished goods.
- Perform basic chemistry testing of finished goods and intermediates.
- Perform set-up, operation, and cleaning of plant equipment according to specification.
- Participate in inventory management including stocking, reconciliation, and cycle counts.
- Assure packaged products are palletized, identified and stored in the proper location.
- Assist with routine facility and equipment maintenance tasks.
- Understand and follow procedures for proper and safe handling of chemicals including use of Safety Data Sheets.
- Use safety equipment including PPE, ladders, and fume hoods according to procedure.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area and perform necessary housekeeping duties.
- Perform other duties as requested by Lead or Supervisor.
Requirements:
- High School diploma, AA degree in Biology or Chemistry preferred, college level chemistry preferred.
- Good work history.
- 2 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience in powder and/or liquid manufacturing (medical device, food/vitamin processing or pharmaceutical) preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Mathematics coursework including unit conversions, college level preferred.
- Chemistry coursework, college level preferred.
- Knowledge of Metric System.
- Ability to understand current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
