Our client is a respected Orange County CPA firm serving closely held businesses and their
owners with tax, assurance, and advisory services. We combine Big-Firm rigor with boutique
attention to detail, prioritizing responsiveness, clear communication, and consultative guidance
clients can use.
Responsibilities
Tax
- Prepare and review individual, partnership, S-corp, and C-corp returns; support extensions and estimates.
- Perform tax workpapers, book-to-tax reconciliations, and basis tracking; research technical issues and document positions.
- Assist with SALT, IRS/FTB notices, and correspondence; maintain organized, supportable files.
Assurance
- Support reviews/compilations (and select audits if applicable): planning, trial balance, analytics, lead sheets, and variance explanations.
- Test selected balances, tie-out financials, and prepare client PBC lists; document procedures per firm standards.
Client Accounting/Bookkeeping
- Handle monthly closes, bank/credit card reconciliations, JE’s, AP/AR clean-up, and management reports.
- Help implement process improvements (e.g., closing checklists, tick-marks, naming conventions).
Client Service & Team
- Communicate proactively with clients on requests, status, and findings; track timeaccurately to engagement codes.
- Collaborate with seniors/managers; contribute to checklists/templates and knowledge sharing.
Seasonal Duties
Busy season support (Jan–Apr; Sep–Oct): extended hours, accelerated turnaround on filings.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- 3–5 years’ public accounting experience in a CPA firm
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field
- Desire to pursue a CPA license
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP basics, individual/entity taxation
- Proficiency in Excel and modern accounting/tax tools; strong documentation and time management.
- Clear, professional communication with clients and teammates; integrity and ownership mindset.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Orange County/California small-to-mid market clients.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $90,000–$130,000 annually, commensurate with experience bi-annual bonus.
Location:
Mission Viejo, CA (on-site).
