About The Role
Under the direct supervision of a Supervisor of Special Education in the Student Support Services Department, the classroom teacher is responsible for providing a developmental and instructional program for assigned students. The Teacher of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder will focus on development and implementation of student IEP's, planning and implementation of daily instructional activities, monitoring student progress and providing consultation to staff, paraprofessionals, agencies, parents and administrators.

About The Role
Under the direct supervision of a Supervisor of Special Education in the Student Support Services Department, the classroom teacher is responsible for providing a developmental and instructional program for assigned students. The Teacher of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder will focus on development and implementation of student IEP's, planning and implementation of daily instructional activities, monitoring student progress and providing consultation to staff, paraprofessionals, agencies, parents and administrators.
- Provides and coordinates an appropriate, positive learning environment with a variety of activities and materials for student intervention.
- Prepares and implements daily lesson plans and instructional schedules for assigned students.
- Develops and implements each student's IEP, monitors student progress toward IEP goals/objectives, and periodically reports on this progress.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with special education endorsement in the area of Autistic Impaired or willingness to seek an endorsement in Autistic Impaired with an endorsement in another special education area.
- Knowledge and experience in programming for students with autism.
- Knowledge and application of curriculum and interventions to utilize with students who are autistic.
