This role ensures component inventory levels support production requirements while aligning with business performance metrics. The planner drives strategic planning and long-term capacity management in support of S&OP objectives. As a key member of the manufacturing team, the Senior Production Planner determines what to produce and when, fostering cross-functional trust and collaboration. Responsibilities include ensuring customer on-time delivery, managing past-due revenue, and leading continuous improvements in planning processes.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a master production schedule aligned with business forecasts and S&OP.Review new orders to confirm capacity (labor, machines), materials, and design availability to meet customer dates.Lead capacity planning for labor, machines, and materials across sites or product lines; provide future capacity reports highlighting risks.Manage production work orders and maintain ERP/MRP accuracy for inventory, BOMs, planning parameters, and product lifecycle updates.Monitor and analyze production performance metrics (on-time start/completion/delivery, lead-time compliance, aged work orders, labor/material variances); identify and resolve issues.Perform root cause analysis for variances from plan and implement process improvements to optimize flow and reduce inventory.Collaborate with Purchasing to align raw material supply plans with demand and business objectives.Support NPIs by integrating launch timelines into production planning and coordinating with cross-functional teams.Use advanced analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, ERP reporting) for forecast accuracy, capacity modeling, and risk mitigation; develop KPIs and lead monthly performance reviews.Drive continuous improvement through Lean/Kaizen projects and implement best practices for constraint-based and finite capacity scheduling.RequirementsMust be able to work on government contracts directly or access shared data resources7 years of work experience in Supply Chain or Production Planning/SchedulingBachelor’s degreeCore CompetenciesExpert-level ERP/MRP knowledge (SAP, Oracle, or similar)Experience with multi-site or global planning preferredExtensive knowledge of data flow through entire manufacturing process – from design conception to shipment of productExtensive knowledge of data flow through entire manufacturing process – from design conception to shipment of productAbility to work in cross-functional teams in a lead or participative capacityStrong analytical, problem-solving, and learning skillsEffective communication across all organizational levelsAbility to identify and drive process improvements and sustain resultsUnderstanding of various business models and their impact on supply chain planning and executionPreferencesAPICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferredBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field of studyExperience in regulated, lot-controlled manufacturing or clean room environment preferredExperience or training with Lean and Visual Factory manufacturing toolsWork Arrangement and Travel RequirementsFully site basedPay Range:The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000k.
