Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer supports TriContinent brand liquid handling pumps built in Monroe, Louisiana. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide direct support for assembly and testing of pumps. Apply theories and principles to both simple and complex work including the design, product characteristics and documentation necessary to produce the product in quantity. Work with Product Management to ensure the best possible commercialization of the product as well as work with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Design Engineering to ensure smooth transition from prototype to production.

Job Overview:

Apply theories and principles to both simple and complex work including the design, product characteristics and documentation necessary to produce the product in quantity. Work with Product Management to ensure the best possible commercialization of the product as well as work with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Design Engineering to ensure smooth transition from prototype to production.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement processes to reduce cost, lower cycle time and ensure quality. This may include improved or new equipment, standard work, line balancing and implementation of single piece flow.
- Develop and maintain documentation such as assembly & test instructions, tooling drawings & assembly fixture.
- Develop and maintain all departmental procedures supporting and maintaining ISO 13485 certification for manufacturing and testing. Troubleshoot return failures to determine root cause and implement corrective actions. Assist in investigations of non-conforming material issues.
- Provide product cost information such as assembly labor cost and capital equipment cost. Write capital expenditure justifications for the purchase of new equipment.
- Work closely with design engineering on new and existing products to ensure the products are designed for manufacturing.
- Work with Design Engineers and SolidWorks modelers to transfer prototypes to a production ready design.
- Develop assembly procedures including the tooling set-up, assembly, and in-process and final inspection points.
- Work with tooling engineer or outside resources to design a tool or fixture to ease production and provide a consistent product.
- Prepare the Product Realization Package and write Engineering Change Orders including description of change, reason for change and verification/validation required by ISO standards for production release and change history.
- Assist Quality department with receiving inspection plans, design of inspection gages and reliability test protocols.
- Work with manufacturing operators to ensure product design is manufactural in an ergonomically safe environment.
- Coordinate manufacturing phase-in of product cost reduction programs.
- Develop cost reports for customer-requested changes, product improvements or cost reduction efforts.
- Review customer returned material and determine method to verify complaint and corrective and preventative action.
Requirements:
- 2 years' experience in manufacturing or design of electro-mechanical devices.
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering or related technical field is required.
- Ability to interface with staff at all levels in other departments i.e. Procurement, Manufacturing, Shipping, Sales & Marketing, as well as with customers.
- Manufacturing environment and processing experience desired (assembly methods, machining, molding, casting, extrusions, familiarity with standard precision measuring techniques, etc.).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office skills including Teams, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
Preferences:
- Experience with medical device manufacturing and ISO 13485. Previous experience with robotics & motion control.
- Technical skills include, but are not limited to, application of industry standards for dimensioning and tolerance, tolerance stack-up analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA), pilot line evaluation, etc.
- Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Basic programming experience with Labview (or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of electronics and digital communications
- Basic industrial engineering experience such as line balance, time study, single piece flow, LEAN.
- Basic experience with design of assembly fixtures.
- Basic experience with Lean Manufacturing.
- Registered Professional Engineer and/or Certified Manufacturing Engineer.
