Overview:
The Azure Cloud Architect will design, secure, and optimize Azure cloud solutions, supporting migrations, modernization, and architecture development for the agency. The role requires strong expertise in Azure services, cloud security, and enterprise-scale architecture.
Responsibilities:
• Advise on Azure architecture, security, and migration strategies (lift-and-shift and cloud-native).
• Recommend and implement refactoring within existing Azure environments.
• Conduct MVP/POC testing to validate architectural designs.
• Configure Azure services to meet agency objectives.
• Leverage COV, MSI, and partner offerings in solution design.
• Produce clear technical documentation and architecture materials.
• Ensure solutions meet availability, RPO/RTO, and zero-trust security requirements.
• Manage cloud security posture and remediation activities.
• Support DevOps processes using Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 5 years in cloud architecture and Azure platform design.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, storage, identity, and core services (Key Vault, Entra ID).
• Experience with Azure Functions, App Service, containers, microservices, and serverless architectures.
• Expertise in cloud security principles (zero-trust, segmentation, conditional access).
• Experience designing highly available solutions and meeting RPO/RTO targets.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Experience with DevOps pipelines and automation tools.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, and non-relational databases like Cosmos DB.
• 5 years as an on-premises architect.
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect certification required.
