Role: Project Manager – Enterprise Software Implementation
Location: Helena, MT – Mostly remote with few onsite meeting expected
Duration: 12-18 months
Position Summary
The Project Manager will lead and coordinate the implementation of enterprise software solution(s) for the Montana Board of Housing (MBOH). The PM will be responsible for overall project planning, governance, schedule and milestone management, risk and issue management, vendor coordination, executive reporting, and successful delivery across multiple business areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute the comprehensive Project Management Plan, project schedule, milestones, dependencies, and resource plan.
- Establish and support project governance, steering committee activities, decision-making processes, and reporting structures.
- Maintain and actively manage the RAID log covering risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
- Prepare executive-level project status reports identifying progress, schedule variances, risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions required.
- Facilitate project status meetings, steering committee meetings, workshops, and other project governance activities.
- Coordinate activities across MBOH stakeholders, software vendor(s), implementation teams, and third-party organizations.
- Manage dependencies across requirements, configuration, integrations, data migration, testing, OCM, training, and deployment.
- Review vendor deliverables and prepare recommendations for Agency acceptance, change requests, and key project decisions.
- Manage scope, schedule, resource, and change-control activities.
- Coordinate go-live readiness, cutover planning, stabilization, and post-implementation activities.
- Ensure project activities remain aligned with Agency objectives and applicable state and federal requirements.
PM responsibilities including governance, RAID management, executive reporting, vendor coordination, and supporting Agency decision-making.
Required/Preferred Qualifications
- 8 years of IT project/program management experience, including enterprise software implementations.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder implementation projects.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management, change control, SDLC, and implementation methodologies.
- Experience coordinating software vendors and business/technical teams.
- Public-sector or regulated-industry implementation experience preferred.
- Housing finance, financial services, mortgage servicing, accounting, or related domain experience preferred.
- PMP certification preferred, consistent with the SOW.
