Sterile Processing Technician – Travel Opportunity | Urbana, IL
Location: Urbana, IL
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 2–3 Weeks After Offer
Shift: Days | 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM | 5x8 Hours
Compensation:
- Travel Pay: $1,380/week = $17/hr (W2) $700/week per diem
- Local Pay: $1,120/week = $28/hr (W2)
Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPD) is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment. Ensures all processes meet AAMI standards and infection control guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, defects, and functionality
- Prepare and package instrument trays per manufacturer IFU
- Maintain accurate documentation in SPD systems
- Restock specialty carts and surgical supplies
- Support OR and clinical units with equipment needs
- Handle urgent (STAT/ASAP) requests efficiently
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of SPD experience
- Minimum 2 years of travel experience
- Experience in Level 1 Trauma or high-volume settings (50 cases/day)
- Strong experience with:
- Trays, Decontamination & Sterilization
- Orthopedics, Robotics, Laparoscopic, Neurosurgery, ENT, CV, General, Trauma, Plastics, Urology, Gynecology
- Knowledge of OR/clinic workflows
- Basic computer & medical terminology knowledge
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Education & Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- CRCST or CSPDT Certification (Required)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Borescope, OneSource, SPM systems
- Strong critical thinking and independent work capability
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary, Travel nursing
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
