What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research And Development Engineer position at InFlo Medical?
InFlo Medical is a medical device startup developing a next-generation ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) system. Our mission is to improve access to life-saving extracorporeal support by creating a system that is smaller, simpler, and more adaptable to a variety of clinical settings. Through a complete redesign of ECMO hardware and workflows, we aim to address limitations in current devices and improve patient outcomes in critical care and emergency settings.
We are seeking a full-time Research & Design Engineer to support the development and testing of our core ECMO technology. This role is hands-on and interdisciplinary, requiring a mix of hardware development, programming, and laboratory experimentation. You will be involved in prototype design, benchtop testing, and collaboration with partners and advisors across engineering and clinical domains.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building early-stage technology and wants to be part of a small, fast-moving team working toward a meaningful mission. You’ll be joining the company at an early stage and will have a direct impact on the product and direction of our technology.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline).
- Strong hands-on skills in prototyping, including assembling and troubleshooting hardware systems.
- Experience with software development (C/C , Python, or similar).
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, data acquisition, and basic circuit design.
- Comfort working in a laboratory setting with test equipment, instrumentation, and experimental protocols.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document work clearly and collaborate effectively.

- Experience with medical devices, especially extracorporeal systems or critical care equipment.
- Understanding of sensors, pumps, valves, or fluid dynamics.- Familiarity with early-stage product development, including iteration and testing under uncertainty.
- Exposure to quality or regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA Class II/III devices).
- At InFlo Medical, you will be part of a focused and mission-driven team aiming to make a real difference in patient care. You will work on a technically complex and clinically meaningful device, gain exposure to multiple aspects of medical device development, and have opportunities to grow with the company.
